Oakbrook, IL! With so many exclusive, hard-to-get reservations in the Chicago area, our brief night in Oakbrook gave us plenty of tempting options. But with limited time, we skipped the drawn-out, multi-course tasting menus and steered clear of the dark, old-school steakhouses (you know the type). We wanted something trendy and unique and landed on Restoration Hardware Rooftop Restaurant. Yes, that Restoration Hardware … the furniture store. Only this time, with a rooftop restaurant attached.
RH Rooftops are limited to a handful of major cities, which gives them an exclusive feel. Reservations can be tricky on weekends, but during the week, we found it pretty easy to book online. The dining room isn’t huge, so it does fill up quickly.
Now for the experience. As expected, the setting was gorgeous. You enter through the sleek furniture store before heading upstairs to the rooftop. The space is filled with natural light and lush greenery, giving it a fresh, airy vibe. Every detail feels intentional — the tables, the chairs, the lighting. And with limited seating, the service was attentive and polished.
The food:
- Starters: The burrata was an easy 10/10 — creamy, fresh, and perfectly paired. The fried artichokes, though, were just okay and not especially memorable.
- Mains: We ordered the lobster roll, filet, and chicken entrée. The lobster roll was tasty but underwhelming if you’ve ever had a true Maine version (a solid 7/10). The filet was excellent but on the smaller side, while the chicken was flavorful but could’ve used a little more “wow” in its accompaniments.
- Dessert: Don’t skip the chocolate chip cookies — definitely a standout. Otherwise, desserts weren’t over the top.

There’s also a beautiful outdoor patio that’s perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks. One thing to note: they serve only beer and wine — no cocktails — so keep that in mind if it’s a dealbreaker.
Overall: Restoration Hardware Rooftop Restaurant is stunning, the service is spot-on, and it’s the perfect spot for conversation. The food? Good, not great. We’d definitely return to try other dishes, but the real star here is the space itself.
